Our Southern Ladies!
Maggie May- Retired
At Southern Belle Kennels, our beloved labrador retriever, Maggie May, has been a shining example of love, loyalty, and incredible motherhood. Over the years, she has blessed us with two beautiful and successful litters, both sired by our amazing stud dog, Gator. Her first litter of 11 puppies and her second litter of 10 puppies have all found their forever homes, where they are happy, healthy, and thriving.
It’s never an easy decision to retire a cherished member of the family, but for Maggie, it’s the right one. Recently, she experienced a CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) tear—a common injury in active dogs, especially those who love a good game of fetch. Playing fetch, while fun, can place a lot of strain on a dog’s knees over time. This has been a reminder for us to explore gentler ways to exercise our furry friends to keep them safe and healthy.
Out of love and care for Maggie, we’ve decided that she will no longer have any litters. Her health and happiness are our top priority, and we want her to enjoy a long, comfortable life. Maggie will retire right here in our home, where she’ll live the life of a normal dog—soaking up affection, indulging in treats, and continuing to be our baby girl.
To all the families who have welcomed one of Maggie’s puppies into your lives: thank you. You’ve become part of her story, and we know her legacy will live on in the wonderful pups she has brought into the world. They carry her gentle spirit, intelligence, and loving nature.
As Maggie enters this next chapter, we reflect on the joy she’s brought to our kennel and to so many families. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts as not just a breeding dog but as a treasured member of our family.
Thank you for your support and for loving Maggie’s puppies as much as we do! ❤️
